History Of Laramie County Fire District #3

Through the years, Albin, Wyoming has been the home of the Laramie County Fire District #3. We receive an ever growing amount of calls each year for fire and medical emergencies throughout Eastern Wyoming.

We have compiled a history of events, including fire related calls to new buildings and equipment. Below you will find a timeline of events highlighting the years of serving our community here in Albin, and the surrounding region. It is with great pride and honor to serve as volunteer firefighters for Laramie County Fire District #3 in Albin, Wyoming.

Sept 5, 1953

Laramie County Commissioners minutes indicate the Commissioner Waltersheid moved to accept a petition for the purpose of establishing an Albin Country Fire District. – Signed Rex Crews, Chairman

1953

Town of Albin Ordinance 12A.01 – establishes a ‘Albin Volunteer Fire Dept’, ‘the purpose of which shall be to prevent fires, fight fires and to protect life and property within the corporate limits of the Town of Albin, WY.

Sept. 23, 1958

WY Tribune published notice of hearing for proposed fire district to be held October 7, 1958 at commissioners meeting.

June 11, 1959

UP Railroad filed petition to board of directors of Albin County Fire Protection District No. 3 – to exclude from said district the following portion thereof: from south line of S 5, T 17N, R 60W at UP engineering station 1325 / 40.4 to the north line of S 6, T 18N, R 60W at UP engineering station 1819 / 99.7 containing 9.37 miles of track.

August 3, 1983

Certification – the official results of the Town of Albin, special election held on August 2, 1983, regarding the Laramie County Fire Protection District # 3 Amendment to include the Town of Albin – 30 voted for and 4 voted against.

August 9, 1983

Commissioner Francis moved to approve ‘a resolution to establish an election was held on August 2, 1983 and a majority of the property owners and nonproperty owners within the district voted in favor of Laramie County Fire District Number #3 be expanded to include the Town of Albin, WY.’ whereas a petition ….requesting the town be included in fire district number three; and whereas an election held by the town…..determined that the town should join the fire district number three; now, be it resolved by the ….commissioners do accept results of election and direct county assessor to apply appropriate mill levy for fire protection to fire district number three.
